Dear Jean Chrétien,

A chilling audit conducted by the European Commission revealed major deficiencies in the Canadian food safety system.

Canadians are being exposed to cancer-causing drugs in meat. Those at greatest risk are children. (see Globe& Mail, Nov.20, 2000).

The Canadian Health Coalition believes that this is unacceptable and would like to know your position on this very important issue.

We would appreciate if you would briefly respond to the following two questions:

  1. Does your party support an independent investigation of Canada’s food safety and drug approval system?
  2. Does your party support an immediate ban on the use of cancer-causing drugs in Canadian meat?

Thank you in advance for your prompt response.

Working towards a healthy Canada,

Michael McBane
National Coordinator
