Carney and Michel’s inboxes flooded with messages supporting pharmacare

At the end of July, the Canadian Health Coalition launched an urgent national email campaign calling on Prime Minister Mark Carney and Health Minister Marjorie Michel to protect national pharmacare and sign new agreements with provinces and territories after Michel’s recent remarks suggested the government may have withdrawn the critical funding needed to finalize them. So far, only three provinces and one territory have signed on, while negotiations with the rest have stalled.

Without these agreements, millions of Canadians will remain without coverage for essential medications, including contraceptives and diabetes medicines like insulin.

Since the launch of the campaign, Canadians from every single province and two territories have participated, sending thousands of messages to Carney, Michel, and MPs across the country. These messages have filled their inboxes and sent a clear signal that Canadians want pharmacare funding protected and expanded.

If you have not yet participated, now is the time to act.

The Liberal caucus will meet from September 9 to 12 in Edmonton. This is our chance to make our voices heard and ensure pharmacare is on their agenda. Every message sent before this meeting increases the pressure to commit the funding and sign the agreements needed to move pharmacare forward.

When you take part, your message is sent directly to Prime Minister Carney and Health Minister Michel, with a copy also going to your local MP. The message is already written for you, and all you need to do is add your name and address so MPs know it comes from one of their constituents.

Send your message now

It only takes a minute to participate, but it demonstrates that Canadians will not accept a patchwork system that leaves people without the medicines they need.

Send your message today and help keep pharmacare on track for everyone in Canada.
