The list of influential speakers continues to grow as excitement builds for the S.O.S. Medicare 3.0 Conference next month.

We can now confirm Canada’s Health Minister Mark Holland will be delivering opening remarks at the Ottawa event on February 24. Mark Holland is the Liberal MP for Ajax in southern Ontario and former Executive Director of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada’s Ontario Mission.

New Democratic Party of Canada Leader Jagmeet Singh will also be taking the stage at SOS Medicare. Singh was an MLA in Ontario before becoming leader of the NDP in 2015. He now represents the riding of Burnaby South.

After amazing presentations on the federal stage, including at the Broadbent Progress Summit, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Seniors and Long-term Care of Manitoba Uzoma Asagwara will bring their vision of public health care to Ottawa.

Asagwara is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, former member of the Canadian National basketball team, and represents the riding of Union Station.

In the wake of the prorogation of Parliament which necessitated the cancellation of the Canadian Health Coalition annual Lobby Day, a second day has been added to the SOS Medicare Conference to provide attendees special advocacy training in time for a looming federal election. The Canadian Labour Congress Political Action Training will teach skills and develop build winning plans for public health care.

Other confirmed public health care advocates and experts who will be speaking at SOS Medicare include Jason MacLean, Linda Silas, Pat Armstrong, Dr. Isabelle LeBlanc, Ivy Bourgeault, Dr. Brandon Doucet, Fae Johnstone, Y.Y. Chen, Frédérique Chabot, DJ Larkin, Greg Marchildon, and many more.

The SOS Medicare 3.0 Conference aims to ensure that defending and expanding Medicare is on the 2025 election agenda. The conference builds on past SOS Medicare conferences held in 1979 and 2007. It is co-sponsored by the Canadian Health Coalition, Canadian Labour Congress, Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions (CFNU), the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE), Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC).
