Stay tuned for the new date.

Privatization continues to creep into Canada’s health care system. The outsourcing of health care to private for-profit entities is taking health care workers out of the public system, and putting patients at risk of extra-billing or user fees.

Joining the Canadian Health Coalition’s Anne Lagacé Dowson in an online conversation on June 18 about the latest moves to privatize Canada’s health care system and what can be done to protect Medicare are Dr. Bernard Ho and Andrew Longhurst.

Webinar: Privatization in Canadian Health Care: What’s at stake?

When: June 18 at 12:00 PM EST

Dr. Bernard Ho is Vice Chair of Canadian Doctors for Medicare and an Emergency Medicine physician currently based in Toronto. He has worked in various parts of Ontario, British Columbia, and the Northwest Territories and is passionate about health advocacy and health equity, working to improve access to healthcare for all Canadians.

Andrew Longhurst is a political economist, health policy researcher, and PhD candidate in the Department of Geography at Simon Fraser University. He also serves as a research associate with BC Policy Solutions. His recent publications include At What Cost? Ontario Hospital Privatization and the Threat to Public Health Care (CCPA-Ontario, 2023) and Operation Profit: Private Surgical Contracts Deliver Higher Costs and Longer Waits (Parkland Institute, 2025).

The webinar will be recorded for later viewing on the Canadian Health Coalition youtube channel.
