Webinar – What Budget 2025 means for public health care

Canada cannot afford to not invest in public health care. Carney’s first budget, released on Nov. 4, has money for hospitals and beds but fails to support the retention of health care workers. Nor does it offer new funding for the expansion of pharmacare.

Join economist Angella MacEwen and policy analyst Steven Staples for a conversation about what the budget means for the future of public health care with the Canadian Health Coalition’s Anne Lagacé Dowson on Monday, November 10 at 12:00 PM ET on Zoom.

Angella MacEwen is the senior economist for the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and a Policy Fellow with the Broadbent Institute. Her primary research focus is the Canadian labour market, broader economic trends and the impacts of social policy on workers. MacEwen is also a Research Associate with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and is on the steering committee of the Progressive Economics Forum and the Trade Justice Network.

Steven Staples is the National Director of Policy and Advocacy of the Canadian Health Coalition. He is an accomplished policy advocacy, strategist, communicator and author, with 30 years of experience in non-profit, labour, and research organizations.

Webinars are recorded for later viewing on the Canadian Health Coalition’s youtube channel.
