March 11, 2021

March 11, 2021 is a National Day of Observance to commemorate the people who lost their lives, and the significant impacts we have all felt because of COVID-19.

On this solemn day, the Canadian Health Coalition remembers the loved ones who were taken by this cruel disease, and we stand together with their families, their friends, and their colleagues.

We also stand with people who have suffered greatly through the pandemic, especially those who have experienced the impact disproportionately because of systemic racism, sexism, and inequity in our institutions and society.

We thank those who continue to work so hard to save so many lives; the health care workers throughout our health care system who care for the infirmed. We thank the first responders, and all frontline workers who are delivering the vital services that allow people to stay home, and stay safe.

As Canadians, we are grateful to those who have built our wonderful public health care system, and we commit to ensure that it is improved and strengthened.

The Canadian Health Coalition (CHC) was founded in 1979 out of a deep desire to keep our health care system public and universal. We will continue to work towards these goals and honour the sacrifices that so many have made to protect the health of everyone living in Canada.

In solidarity,
Pauline Worsfold, RN
Chairperson, Canadian Health Coalition
